GP Registrars and Training

Supporting the Training of Future Healthcare Professionals

Crocus Medical Practice is proud to support the education and training of future healthcare professionals. As a teaching practice, we may provide training opportunities for GP Registrars, Medical Students, Nursing Students, and other healthcare trainees as part of their professional development.

Training the next generation of healthcare professionals is an important part of maintaining high-quality NHS services and ensuring patients continue to receive excellent care in the future.

What is a GP Registrar?

A GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor who has experience working in hospitals and is undertaking specialist training to become a General Practitioner (GP).

GP Registrars work under the supervision of experienced GP trainers and receive ongoing support, guidance, and assessment throughout their training.

Although they are still in training, GP Registrars are qualified doctors who are able to see patients, assess medical conditions, and provide treatment within their level of competence.

Other Trainees

At times, the Practice may also host:

  • Medical students
  • Nursing students
  • Other healthcare trainees

These individuals are supervised by qualified clinicians and are bound by the same professional and confidentiality standards as all healthcare staff.

What Does This Mean for Patients?

You may be offered an appointment with a GP Registrar or another trainee clinician.

This can often increase appointment availability while providing valuable learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.

Patients may also be asked if a trainee can observe or participate in a consultation under supervision.

Your Choice

Your participation in medical education is entirely voluntary.

If a trainee is involved in your consultation:

  • You will be informed beforehand where possible.
  • You may decline to have a trainee present.
  • Your decision will not affect the care you receive in any way.

We will always respect your wishes and ensure your comfort and privacy are maintained.

Confidentiality

All trainees working within the Practice are required to comply with:

  • UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
  • NHS confidentiality requirements
  • Professional codes of conduct
  • Practice confidentiality policies

Any information seen or discussed during training activities is treated with the same strict confidentiality as all patient records.

Benefits of Being a Training Practice

By supporting education and training, Crocus Medical Practice helps to:

  • Train future GPs and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain high clinical standards.
  • Encourage continuous learning and innovation.
  • Improve recruitment and retention within the NHS.
