Named Accountable GP

Your Named GP

All patients registered with Crocus Medical Practice are allocated a Named Accountable GP (sometimes referred to as your "usual doctor").

Having a named GP helps us ensure continuity of care and provides a clinician with overall responsibility for coordinating your healthcare needs. Your named GP will typically oversee important correspondence relating to your care, such as hospital letters, specialist reports, and other clinical communications.

What Does a Named GP Do?

Your Named GP is responsible for:

  • Overseeing your overall care within the Practice.
  • Reviewing important correspondence from hospitals and other healthcare providers.
  • Helping to coordinate your care where appropriate.
  • Maintaining an overview of your medical history and ongoing health needs.

Test results, such as blood tests, scans, X-rays, and ultrasound reports, are usually reviewed by the clinician who requested them, although they remain accessible to other authorised clinicians within the Practice.

Can I Still See Another GP?

Yes.

Having a Named GP does not mean that you can only see that doctor. You are free to book appointments with any GP, nurse, or healthcare professional within the Practice, depending on availability and your clinical needs.

All clinicians have secure access to your medical records, enabling them to provide appropriate care regardless of which clinician you see.

Can I Choose My Named GP?

If you would prefer a particular GP to be your Named GP, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, allocations may depend on clinical capacity and workload across the Practice.

From time to time, we may need to review and reallocate Named GPs to ensure an equitable distribution of patients between doctors.

How Do I Find Out Who My Named GP Is?

If you would like to know the name of your Named Accountable GP, please contact the Practice and a member of our team will be happy to advise you.

Requesting an Appointment with a Specific GP

If you wish to see a particular doctor, please let our reception team know when booking your appointment.

Please note that many GPs work part-time, so there may be a longer wait for an appointment with your preferred clinician. If your problem is urgent, we may offer you an appointment with another suitably qualified healthcare professional to ensure you receive timely care.
