Patient Responsibilities

Help Us to Help You

At Crocus Medical Practice, we are committed to providing the best possible care for all our patients. You can help us deliver an efficient and effective service by following the guidance below.

Keep Your Contact Details Up to Date

Please inform the Practice as soon as possible if you change your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address

Keeping your details current helps us contact you when necessary and ensures your medical records remain accurate.

Attend Your Appointments

Please make every effort to attend appointments that you have booked.

If you are unable to attend, let us know as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to another patient. Missed appointments increase waiting times and reduce the availability of appointments for others.

Request Home Visits Appropriately

Home visits should only be requested when a patient is genuinely too unwell to attend the surgery. Whenever possible, patients should attend the Practice, where clinicians have access to the equipment and facilities needed to provide the best care.

Help Us Manage Telephone Demand

Our telephone lines are busiest during the morning.

To help us manage demand:

  • Keep telephone calls as brief as possible.
  • Avoid calling during peak morning periods for non-urgent enquiries.
  • Use online services where appropriate.

This helps ensure patients with urgent concerns can access the Practice promptly.

Test Results

Please allow sufficient time for test results to be processed and reviewed by a clinician before contacting the Practice.

  • Only telephone for results when you have been advised to do so.
  • Where possible, please contact us after 10:00am for routine results enquiries.
  • If a test was requested by a hospital consultant or hospital department, please contact the hospital directly for the result.

Treat Staff with Respect

Our doctors, nurses, receptionists, administrators, and other team members work hard to provide the best possible service.

We ask all patients and visitors to treat Practice staff with courtesy, dignity, and respect at all times. We operate a zero-tolerance approach towards abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour.

Make Use of Our Website

Our website contains a wide range of information about:

  • Practice services
  • Appointments
  • Prescriptions
  • Test results
  • Self-help advice
  • NHS services

We encourage patients to use the website to access information and make the most of the services available.

Ask Questions

It is important that you understand any advice, treatment, or information provided to you.

If you are unsure about anything, please ask. Our team will always do their best to explain information clearly and answer your questions.

Take Responsibility for Your Health

You play an important role in maintaining your own health and wellbeing, as well as that of any children in your care.

We will provide professional medical advice and support, and we encourage you to follow the advice given and engage actively in decisions about your healthcare.

Seeing a Particular GP

If you would like to see a specific doctor, please let us know when booking your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.

Crocus Medical Practice appreciates your support and cooperation in helping us provide high-quality healthcare services for all our patients.
