Statement of Intent for NHS Digital Services
Our Commitment to Digital Healthcare
Crocus Medical Practice is committed to supporting NHS digital services that improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.
We support a range of NHS systems and services that enable secure sharing of information between healthcare organisations, improve access to healthcare records, and enhance the way patients interact with the Practice.
The key areas covered by our Statement of Intent are:
- Summary Care Records (SCR)
- GP to GP Record Transfers (GP2GP)
- Online Access to GP Services and Records
- Data Sharing for NHS Planning and Healthcare Improvement
Summary Care Record (SCR)
The Summary Care Record is an NHS system that allows authorised healthcare professionals involved in your care to access important information from your GP medical record when needed.
This may include:
- Current medications
- Allergies
- Adverse reactions to medicines
Having access to this information can be particularly helpful when you receive treatment outside your GP practice, such as in hospitals, urgent care centres, NHS 111, or out-of-hours services.
Crocus Medical Practice routinely updates Summary Care Records to ensure the information available is as accurate and up to date as possible.
Patients who do not wish to have a Summary Care Record can discuss this with the Practice.

GP to GP Record Transfers (GP2GP)
When patients register with a new GP practice, the NHS GP2GP system allows electronic medical records to be transferred securely between practices.
This helps to:
- Improve continuity of care.
- Reduce delays in accessing medical information.
- Ensure healthcare professionals have timely access to important clinical details.
Crocus Medical Practice uses the GP2GP system to securely send and receive patient records when patients join or leave the Practice.
Online Access to GP Services and Records
We support online services that allow patients to manage aspects of their healthcare conveniently and securely.
Subject to eligibility and identity verification, patients may be able to:
- Book and cancel appointments online.
- Request repeat prescriptions.
- View elements of their medical record.
- Access information about medications and allergies.
- Use NHS digital services through approved online platforms.
For more information about online services, please visit the Practice's Online Services section or speak to a member of our team.

The NHS uses healthcare information to support:
- Planning healthcare services.

- Public health initiatives.
- Service evaluation and quality improvement.

Where patient information is used for purposes beyond direct care, strict legal, security, and confidentiality safeguards apply.
